UNC Greeks Team Up with Heels4Hope 5-K Race to be Held on Oct. 17 Event to Benefit Local Arc of Orange, Push America, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital

CHAPEL HILL, NC, Sept. 9, 2010 – Heels4Hope, the 5-K run that raised more than $13,000 in its inaugural year last October, announced this year’s race will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010, on the University of North Carolina campus. The beneficiaries of this year’s race include the Arc of Orange County, Push America, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Push America and St. Jude are the national philanthropies of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and Delta Delta Delta sorority, respectively. Push America and the Arc serve people with acquired, physical, and developmental disabilities; St. Jude is a treatment and research center focused on children’s catastrophic diseases.

Quotes:
"I’m excited that Tri Delta and Pi Kappa Phi are partnering to support this event. It’s a great way to raise money for our philanthropies and the Arc. We are thrilled about getting the campus and community involved in our event and hope  this will become something people look forward to every year,” said Cara English, Heels4Hope coordinator for Delta Delta Delta.

“We learned a lot hosting the race last year and are thrilled to have Tri-Delta join us for Heels4Hope this year. The additional resources will help us better accommodate our runners,” said David Hamrick, Heels4Hope PR and marketing coordinator and member of Pi Kappa Phi. “This is an exciting opportunity to prove that Greeks can be a positive force for change and awareness in the community.”
