Karen Bonardi, Connections Queen—Business Development Consultant to Hatch

Karen Bonardi has a warm personality and an amazing way of connecting people. Known for her talent to relate to the customer and close the sale, she is a gifted marketing and business development strategist. Her experience covers a broad range of industries including finance, health and fitness, medical equipment, advertising, retail, professional services, golf, private clubs, and nonprofit organizations.

As membership and marketing director for a private member-owned country club, Karen increased annual membership matriculation by 400%, effectively targeted a young family market segment, and within 24 months reduced the median age of membership.

Karen served the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce as a consultant and director of development, where she increased membership by more than 200 businesses and scored impressive annual sponsorship investment from large and small companies. She also redesigned marketing collateral and implemented new business development goals of the strategic plan.

Karen’s undergrad and graduate education are in public health, exercise and sports science.

Karen might be found running the trails around Chapel Hill when not working. An exercise enthusiast, Karen runs for fun and her health and has several marathons under her belt. She also makes sure to find ample time for her daughter who’s in college, her friends and family, volunteering, and of course an active social/business calendar.
